HISTORIC RENOVATION

As a novice architect, Janice Nyman created of Forensic Architectural drawings for a home burned in the Oakland fires designed by Julia Morgan, Architect of Hearst Castle. Detailing included extended tapered roof joists with tongue and groove 1x6 wood sheathing,  unified trim on lacy continuous window openings, custom column and paneling details, custom coved ceiling and wood bases and other details specific to Californian wooden homes, circa 1910. This training in wood casework led her to consult to Latini Kirkendall, and Cardwell Thomas where she detailed an interlocking copper paneled bay window and other classical home features.
