ARCHIFLORA-
HOUSE

LAKE
WASHINGTON RESIDENCE
Sited on a steep hill, this attractive, classic modern home had many attractive features including exposed beams, car-decking, an open floor plan and large plate glass windows with views to Seattle and Lake Washington.
We wanted to maintain the classic modern integrity of the house, while also adding a refined, comfortable entry, and additional living space.
Our approach was to use quality materials, match existing system and keep it simple and well constructed. Artistry arose in the use of galvanized steel angle handrails, canopy details metaphorically representing the bamboo of a Japanese garden, and stone decking at the bridge. For building addition construction we matched the existing home's exposed beam and clearstory glazing system.
